Privacy Policy
Cartontech LLC
Effective Date: February 15, 2025
Last Updated: November 4, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to all websites owned and operated by Cartontech LLC, including cartontech.com (collectively, "our Sites"). This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
We believe in being direct: we do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for their own use. Period. The one service provider that processes some of it on our behalf is described under Third-Party Sharing.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you contact us through a form, email, or consultation request, we may collect:
- Your name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company or organization name
- Any additional information you choose to include in your message
This information is collected solely to respond to your inquiry and provide the services you've requested.
When you send our contact form, the message we receive also records the time, the page you sent it from, your IP address, and the approximate city and country that address points to. The location is looked up in a database on our own server, not by an outside service. We use these details only to spot spam and abuse.
Information Collected Automatically
We count visits to our Sites with our own analytics, which run on our own server. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking pixels, and no information about your visit is sent to anyone else.
Our analytics do not use cookies and do not store your IP address. The address is used only for a moment: to count unique visitors per day, through a code that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you, and (where enabled) to estimate your city. We record:
- Which pages are viewed, for how long, and how far they are scrolled
- The website, search engine or ad campaign that brought the visit
- The type of device and browser
- Clicks on things like the contact button, email links and links to other sites
Within one browser tab, a random visit number is kept in your browser's session storage (not a cookie) and is erased when the tab is closed. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded. Analytics records are deleted after 13 months.
We also note when AI assistants and search services (such as ChatGPT or Claude) fetch our pages, recording only the page and the name of the service.
Like most web servers, ours also keep standard access logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time and referring site). These are used only for security monitoring and troubleshooting, are kept on our own infrastructure, and are not used to profile visitors.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries and service requests
- Improve the functionality and user experience of our Sites
- Monitor site performance and troubleshoot technical issues
- Communicate with you regarding services you've requested
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond what is described in this policy.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for their own use. Your data stays with us. The only exceptions to this would be if required by law, court order, or legal process — and only to the minimum extent necessary to comply.
Email screening. Email sent to our @cartontech.com addresses is checked automatically for spam and for messages that need our prompt attention. For this, a redacted extract of each new message is sent to an AI service provider, OpenRouter, which passes it to TypeSafe's Jev model. The extract contains the message headers and the beginning of its text, with names, the personal part of email addresses, phone numbers, payment card numbers and similar identifiers removed. Attachments and images are never sent. Each request is made under OpenRouter's zero-data-retention setting: the extract is used only to return a score and is not stored or used to train models. This is processing on our behalf, not a sale or sharing of your information.
Cookies
Our Sites do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising cookies. Our own visit counting uses no cookies (see above). You can control or disable cookies and site storage through your browser settings at any time.
Data Retention
We retain contact information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or as required for ongoing business communication. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to any personal information we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal information
We will respond to all legitimate requests within a reasonable timeframe.
Children's Privacy
Our Sites are not directed at individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
